Cyberpreneurship: ‘Posting’ your products/services is never enough.
The global
business circle has witnessed a huge level of evolution in the last two decades
owing to the discovery of internet and by extension, virtual business
opportunities. Big and small-scale business owners have invested time and
capital in the best possible ways to make sure that their brands get to their
target-audience under few seconds (as long as the prospective customer uses the
internet).
Not disregarding
the impact of creative hands who carve out captivating contents, it can be
agreed upon that many brands have decided to ‘test the waters’ from the comfort
of their homes or small offices by putting ads on the internet, hoping that
they get customers blasting their phones, mails and social media. Some today
have become success stories while others have remained at the first stage after
many months.
From Whatsapp to
Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, cyberpreneurs- entrepreneurs who conduct business in the online environment,
‘post’ their products and services on their timelines and statuses, hoping to
get new customers and revive the faith current customers have in them but many
times, this process has little influence. No doubt, the impact of internet
cannot be over emphasized. It is like the umbrella that covers brands during
the rain and the shades that protects their eyes in the sun.
However, many of
them do not seem to be getting the desired results because of unnecessary
dependence on the internet and referrals that only come once in a blue moon. As
a business owner in this very challenging situation, you can fall into
psychological imbalance if the narrative does not change.
This article is
out to advice budding cyberpreneurs even as they strategically carve out ways
to get customers from various ends.
What to do?
You need to grab
the bull by the horn. Learn from the mistake of relying on viewers, followers,
friends and relatives (they have goals they are chasing) and set out on the
journey yourself.
Do you have a Business card? Imagine you’re in the
bus and you meet someone who might like your products. How do you give a
lasting first impression of a serious-minded business person who wants to gain
clients everywhere he goes if you don’t have your card? Okay, you have a condom
brand and you don’t take a pack with you everywhere you go; what if you
overhear partners in the next restroom talking about having a quickie? You just
drop the condom in there with your card, and the next they say is history!
If you want to sellout,
you have to Be the trend by being
innovative. Most of you all just sit at home and let the internet dictate
trends for you when you can actually create trending topics and insights about
your products in that same position. You know how loved you feel when it’s your
birthday and well-wishers post your pictures everywhere; that’s exactly what
happens when you create trends. Organize shows and hangouts. Make models where
your brand. Stir up conversations surrounding issues that your brand can solve.
A cyberpreneurship of this age should never be stereotyped. We are nearing that
season when our skin is going to be very dry; what is your skin care brand
introducing to help us enjoy ourselves? Imagine the attention your brand pulls
when you trend on twitter, that’s what I’m talking about. Be the trend.
The last advice
is for you to employ the best hands in churning out Engaging contents that magnet the hearts of your customers and
pull them closer to becoming more of a brand influencer. Words have the
ability to make minds skip a beat and if you harness this side of the business,
you are a step closer to becoming their favourite brand.
Build your brand
like your life depends on it and you should only do less if it is your side
hustle; mind you, even individuals with side-hustles take it serious so why
shouldn’t you?
I wish you
goodluck as you build your way up into one of the most talked-about brands in
the world.
Nice write-up
